Recently I was given a CD promoting a new health product. The doctor promoting the product reinforced the necessity of getting a solid eight hours of sleep daily. He was really saying everyone needed a good quality eight hours restful sleep every day.
The bottom line was if we didn't get this amount of good quality rest our health would not be optimal.
Do you want to have a stronger and more beautiful body? Then the best thing to do is get on your feet and start doing resistance training.
What Is Resistance Training?
Resistance training involves activities that use weights, machines and even body weight to work out the muscles properly. It is also known as strength training or weight training.
The body is flexible. It is supposed to be flexible. You must be able to bend and reach something you drop on the floor. You must be able to zip the back of your favorite dress. You must be able to reach that book you need to read from the top shelf.
These are simple activities. Nothing grand about them, you merely stretched out a bit. However, if there are difficulties in doing such simple motions, then you already need a stretching program.
Since many people are involved in regular, daily physical exercise, it is important that you warm up your muscles before engaging in any strenuous activity.
Why warm up? Several changes takes place in the body once physical activity is initiated. A person's respiratory rate, blood flow, and oxygen and nutrient levels delivered to the cells increases.
What is exercise really? And why do so many of us ignore doing it? In reality exercise is essential in order for us to be and remain healthy.
Exercise comes in many forms and does not necessarily mean spending thousands of dollars to go to a gym or hire a trainer. Whenever we move our body we are performing some type of exercise. Clearly the more we move and the more intense the activity the better it is for our overall health.
What are the real benefits of exercising? We always hear that we should exercise. Well that's nice, but why? What is the real benefit or value in exercising anyway? Some may think it is obvious, but not everyone feels the same way. Its like taking castor oil, while it may be good for what ails you, not too many people willingly take it. A very good friend of mine has a favorite expression "Success Leaves Traces".
I recall that as I was growing up my mother would frequently say that a person's health is the most important thing they have. At that time I heard her, but I really didn't 'hear' her, if you know what I mean. I mean really healthy doesn't taste very good, it isn't much fun, it takes work and heaven knows we have enough work as it is.
Recently I've been considering the amazing benefits I've been experiencing since we've been acquired by our precious black and white Lhasa Apso pup. I've often wondered about pet owners and the sometimes apparent bond they have with their pets. Personally I've been a cat person most of my life probably because they are relatively low maintenance, but this puppy has given me a new perspective on pets.
Whether we know it or not or whether we accept it or not, our emotions play a critical role in our overall health. Here are some questions for you to consider: Do you have a handle on your emotions? Are you steady and consistent? Are you all over the map? Are you even aware of your feelings or emotions? Do you cry at the drop of a hat? Or have you never cried at all in your entire life? I am not trying to make any judgments here, but I want you to look at and be honest with yourself.
We've all heard the cliche you are what you eat. In the computer industry they say: GIGO garbage in - garbage out. You're probably asking yourself what this has to do with health. That is a fair question and here is the answer - EVERYTHING.
Our bodies are complex organisms. They are composed of trillions of cells which combine in their unique way to produce you and me, and the billions of other people on our planet.
