Stop Excessive Sweating: How Do You Know if You Sweat Too Much?
Excessive sweating is described as the amount of sweat that creates problems in a persons life. Those that sweat excessively have the condition hyperhidrosis.

Hyperhidrosis usually starts in adolescence. As shocking as this will sound, nearly 3% of Americans (nearly 8 million) suffer from this condition. What is unfortunate is that of this 3% of American about two thirds of them did not have any kind of discussion with a medical professional to find out how to stop excessive sweating, according to a 2004 study.

You are not alone when it comes to excessively sweating, especially in public. It can be life altering when you are worrying about your problem. It can literally take over a person. The real fact is that everyone sweats but usually in moderation. Sweating is a process everyone goes through to regulate ones body, when your body is getting too hot, a person will start to sweat in order to cool down. This is something you do not want to stop.

Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis is more often than not restricted to one region, in the palms, feet or under arms. This is when the problems come in play because it sweating is something that is hard to hide. For instance, what if you are getting ready to meet someone and shaking hands is a way to greet them, how do you stop excessive sweating at that moment - you can't.

As intolerable as sweating can be, it is a normal and a healthy process our body goes through. When the body starts to get too hot, a signal from the center of the brain is sent and the body starts to sweat and the body goes back to the normal temperature. It is as if everyone has his or her own built in air conditioner.

When a person sweats excessively (hyperhidrosis) the brain is telling the body to sweat in a localized area. Many people are not aware that there are ways to stop excessive sweating and that they do not have to live in constant fear of how they look or smell.

It is important to be aware of when excessive sweating is serious. Hyperhidrosis comes in many different forms. Primary focal hyperhidrosis is not considered a serious condition, just an annoying condition. Remember, 8 millions Americans have this form of hyperhidrosis as stated above. It is when a person is sweating all over their body, called generalized hyperhidrosis.

This form of hyperhidrosis can be the cause of a disease that is affecting the entire body. Some problems that could cause generalized hyperhidrosis could include cancer, infections, and hormones, among others. This type occurs when sleeping, unlike focal hyperhidrosis that occurs when awake.

If you are sweating all over the body, seek medical attention right away. On the other hand, if you suffer from excessive sweating from the feet, palms, or under arms there are treatments one can take to stop excessive sweating.
