For long term success with any diet, you will probably need to change at least some of your behaviors. Pre-packaged diet programs like Nutrasystem, Jenny Craig, and Medifast offer you a way to do this. All you need to know is how to work with the program.

The guide provided by Nutrasystem helps you learn new ways of behaving in a 13-week course. This is enough time to fully understand all of the concepts given about weight management. If your program will last longer than that, it is a good idea to go over the program continually until you have reached your goal weight. This helps you to be prepared when you go from the pre-packaged Nutrasystem foods to grocery store foods.

One of the topics covered in the Nutrasystem course is how to identify what kind of hunger you are feeling. You can also learn strategies for eating in restaurants or at parties. One of the most important things you will learn about behavior is how to do healthy food shopping. The Nutrasystem program is available to teach you new behaviors about how to get more movement into your life.

The Jenny Craig diet program counts on its diet consultants to teach you new ways of dealing with food and fitness issues. Their counselors are said to go through training in facilitating the important skills you need in order to get to and maintain a healthy weight.

As you go through your diet, you can learn from the Jenny Craig portion sizes about how much you should be eating. You can also take notes from the exercise program as to how much you should be exercising and moving around on a regular basis. With Jenny Craig, you are either in the hands of a consultant, or you are basically on your own. There is little self-education information provided.

With Medifast, you are encouraged to keep using the product even after you have reached your goal weight. The idea is that you can use the Medifast for protein with your regular meals. Another option is to continue to use these meal replacements 2 or 3 times a day to maintain your weight.

Therefore, in the case of Medifast, you bring back regular foods gradually, but you never really go off the pre-packaged diet completely. Meanwhile, you can always continue with the exercises and activities you have begun while you were on the program full-time. There is less of a harsh transition because the whole diet plan is not changing.

You can change your lifestyle during the time you are on a pre-packaged diet. What is more, you can continue those changes beyond the time of your goal completion. The way you accomplish this will depend on whether you have been on the Nutrasystem, Jenny Craig, Medifast, or some other diet program.
