Many of us may prefer to buy and to drink bottled water as a safer alternative to using tap water. We are right to do so, and no one could blame us. In addition, we may justify ourselves by saying that water is not, anyway, that expensive. And even if it were, it would be worth paying for it because it is water we are talking about, namely, something extremely crucial for our lives.

The Controversy Regarding Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration Systems
Many of us may prefer to buy and to drink bottled water as a safer alternative to using tap water. We are right to do so, and no one could blame us. In addition, we may justify ourselves by saying that water is not, anyway, that expensive. And even if it were, it would be worth paying for it because it is water we are talking about, namely, something extremely crucial for our lives.

But what if we got the chance to produce water equaling in quality the bottled water we used to buy until now? Reverse osmosis units are exactly what we need if we intend to stop buying bottled water, and if we want to have at the same time the guarantee that what we drink is safe and no poorer in quality. One thing anyone has to know if they are doubtful about reverse osmosis water filtration systems is that this technology is the one employed in producing the very same bottled water they continue to prefer.

As profitable and as popular as they are, for some people reverse osmosis units continue to be a controversial technology. There are some questions they keep raising simply because the word goes that there is something not quite right about this particular technology. For instance, there is an issue linked to the fact that reversed osmosis water filtration systems remove minerals from water, which is a problem because minerals are essential to our health.

No one can deny that reversed osmosis units do eliminate minerals from our drinking water. But this is a matter any water purifying technology has to face. In addition, is this fact a genuine drawback? Instead of rejecting these units on the basis of this mineral-linked issue, we should focus on the benefits of using reversed osmosis water filtration systems. That is, drinking nitrates free water, for instance, on the expense of calcium, let's say, is something we should be willing to do because, first of all, we can take calcium from our food and, secondly, an apparent lack of calcium is much less damaging than the actual presence of nitrates within our blood stream.

Another issue in linked to the so called inability of reversed osmosis units to eliminate chlorine from water. Again, this is nothing more than a mere myth. It is beyond question that the very membrane who is designed to filter the water does not remove particles of chlorine.

But reversed osmosis water filtration systems are more complex. It's not just the membrane that works to filter water, but there is also a carbon filter that is precisely designed to remove chlorine. The proof if chlorine managed to pass through the carbon filter the membrane itself would be severely damaged very quickly.

So, should you decide to purchase such a system, don't worry: all rumors are mere misunderstandings.
