What Are the Consequences of a Poor Night's Sleep
Are you known as the office zombie? If you are that person that skulks around the copy machine, sipping eight cups of coffee a day, and then mechanically sits at the desk typing and clicking for hours on end, then you are probably struggling with insomnia. But not getting a good night of sleep does more than simply make you a sub par employee. It is affecting several aspects of your life.

Your mind is not focused or sharp, and you can attribute this directly to not getting enough hours of sleep each night. You have trouble remembering things on a regular basis, and it takes awhile to get your attention all the time. This would be eliminated completely if you just got rid of the restlessness that plagues you all the time.

Aside from your mind, your body is also taking a beating from you clocking in less than at least seven hours of sleep every night. Getting sleep for short intervals only does not allow your body a sufficient amount of time to naturally repair itself. That is why doctors instruct you to get plenty of sleep as part of a healthy regimen. By taking naps or waking frequently, the skin cells and internal organs never get the chance to settle down, 'turn off' and be in a complete state of rest to get refreshed and renewed. This will greatly impact the aging process, not to mention have your skin looking sallow and worn out all the time.

Let's talk about mood swings, and I'm not talking about PMS. When you go for long periods of time without sleeping, your insomnia can turn you into a beastly sort. You might go from hot to cold without even realizing it sometimes, because your subconscious mind is working on overdrive. Though it may not seem like it, this may greatly impact your relationships with others. People may tolerate this crankiness from time to time, but if your insomnia is a regular thing, then your moodiness will be too. No one wants to be around that all the time, so get some rest immediately.

Another major consequence is that it simply is dangerous to go without sleep for too long. You might think that you can get by on a couple of hours and be fine, but that drive to work or taking the kids to school can be a mistake that you may or may not live to regret. Any time you are operating some kind of machinery, especially a car, after a night of restlessness, you are asking for trouble.

And the last main thing with having trouble sleeping is that it just does not make you feel good. Your bones feel achy, your feet drag, and you just don't have the motivation to do anything without getting the proper rest. Why would you want to put yourself and everyone around through that all the time, when you should spend more time figuring out how to stay asleep for eight hours?
